About this Programme

This is a two-year programme which equips graduates with knowledge and technical (practical) skills in Risk Management. The duration is broken down into four semesters.

This programme is about exploring the aspects of risk management in a digital world. It equips the students with knowledge and skills predicting, identifying and managing risk in a digital world. It equips students with investigative skills and knowledge on how to predict a risk, identify a risk and manage it using a computer or using the knowledge of ICT.

Programme Objectives

  1. The objectives of this programme are to:

    1. Introduce the students to the concepts and principles of risk and risk management in the digital era.
    2. Equip students with knowledge and skills needed to carry out risk management.
    3. Produce graduates who can integrate theory and practice to work efficiently and effectively in organizations.
    4. Explore ways of prediction, identification and risk management.
    5. Train the students for lifelong learning in risk management and other related fields.

Intakes

The institute has two intakes;

  1. August Intake – 10th August 2020 (Application deadline – 31st July 2019)
  2. January Intake – 25th January 2021 (Application Deadline – 18th December 2020)

Entry Requirements

Direct Entry:
Students entry through A’ level must have at least one principal pass, two subsidiary passes in mathematics or Physics at Advanced level of education and at least five (5) principal passes at ordinary level in one sitting or its equivalent.

Certificate Entry
A certificate from a recognized institution of higher learning with a credit and three passes at ordinary level on one sitting or its equivalent.

Foundation Programme
Foundation or Bridging course approved by NCHE

Tuition

Tuition: Ugx. 1,200,000 per semester
Other Fees:

  1. 20,000 NCHE Constitution (non – refundable, one off)
  2. 100,000 (Development fund)

Application forms shall be processed and shortlists made by the Admissions Office shall be forwarded to the Institute Admissions Committee. The committee shall grant or deny the admission. The applicant’s file shall be reviewed for completeness and a letter shall be given indicating admission, pending fulfillment of the requirements.
All documents received by the Institute in connection with an application for admission will become the property of Institute of Forensics and ICT Security. Admission places of students who are admitted and fail to report will be filed. However, material will only be held for a period of only one year if the student notifies the Admissions Office in writing of postponement of enrollment.
