The Institute of Forensics and ICT Security (IFIS) is a professional body for practitioners in cybersecurity, digital forensics, investigations, fraud examination, risk management and training. Membership is reserved for professionals with proven practical skills, real experience and a commitment to high standards.
Apply for MembershipIFIS members do not just study theory. They apply knowledge in real investigations, fraud detection and cybersecurity defense. As a member, you gain practical skills, expert mentorship and access to industry resources, and you join a network of forensics, cybersecurity and anti-fraud professionals who set standards in the industry.
IFIS welcomes university graduates, employees of companies, and members or students of other professional bodies, both local and international, to join as Associate Members. This route provides hands on experience in digital forensics, fraud examination, cybersecurity, risk management and investigation report writing, helping members move from theory to practice.
Membership is open to both local and international applicants. The six categories below set out benefits, annual fees and eligibility criteria.

For companies and institutions
Open to companies and institutions registered with the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB), or an equivalent registered legal entity. Must have staff working in governance, cybersecurity, risk management, accounting and finance, fraud examination, internal or external auditing, or law enforcement. Approval by the IFIS membership committee upon submission of required documents, including the application form, URSB registration number, and names and profiles of five staff representing the organization. Annual fees must be paid on time.
Apply as a Corporate MemberFor working professionals
IFIS alumni with at least two years of experience, or holders of a recognized professional certification, local or international, with relevant experience in forensics, cybersecurity, risk, fraud, law enforcement or ICT management. Approval is granted through the IFIS Grandfathering process.
Apply as an Individual MemberFor current IFIS students
For established industry leaders
Minimum of 10 years of proven industry leadership and outstanding contributions to the field. Approval is granted by the IFIS board following recommendation.
Apply for Fellow MembershipFor exceptional industry contribution
Reserved for individuals with exceptional impact on forensics, cybersecurity, risk management, investigations, accountancy or related fields. Awarded by IFIS leadership.
Apply for Honorary MembershipFor graduates and professionals building experience
University students, members of other professional bodies, or graduates seeking practical skills and a professional network. Also open to professionals in investigations, digital forensics, auditing, accountancy, finance, risk management, procurement, human resources, cybersecurity or related fields who do not yet meet full membership criteria. Applicants must submit an application letter and demonstrate commitment to professional growth.

The IFIS Membership Certificate is a tool for career progress. It equips professionals with hands on expertise in fraud examination, forensic report writing, the digital investigation lifecycle and expert witness preparation within a local context.
